An uneasy mission of supporting higher education reforms in Kyrgyzstan has been fulfilling for almost 14 years European Union programme TEMPUS. During all this time many projects on university management and curriculum modernization have been realized. Now the new phase of the programme – Tempus IV is in the process.

Tempus programme helps higher education system in Kyrgyzstan to develop, helps reforms promotion and new educational systems development and invention in the higher education institutions of the country and in IIMOP KNU n.a. J. Balasagyn in particular. The participation of IIMOP KNU in Tempus projects gave a chance to study European education technologies, different approaches to the educational process organization. On the basis of the material studied and the experience of higher education institutions in France, England, Finland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Spain, the joint curricula were created, European educational technologies elements were invented.

Taking into consideration active participation in Tempus programme projects and positive experience in European education elements invention, the Ministry of education and science of the KR allowed IIMOP KNU to take an experiment on ECTS (2005-2010) in the frames of which, the main principals of Bologna Declaration are invented on 5 faculties.
