Regional Seminar on National Qualification Framework, 10-11 November 2011
With the joint organization of the National Tempus Office in Kyrgyzstan and Soros Foundation in Kyrgyzstan on 10-11 November on the basis of Academy of Management under the President of Kyrgyz Republic a two-day seminar on "Development of a National Qualifications Framework in Kyrgyz Republic" was conducted.

Regional Seminar on National Qualification Framework, 10-11 November 2011

With the joint organization of the National Tempus Office and Soros Foundation in Kyrgyzstan is planning to conduct a two-day seminar "Development of a National Qualifications Framework", which aims to introduce a European Qualifications Framework model, discussion on the future models in higher education with kyrgyzuniversities. For the conduction of the seminar NTO in Kyrgyzstan welcomes two European experts - Andy Gibbs (UK) and Vera Stastna (Czech Republic), as well as the seminar will be facilitate with team of experts on higher education reform in the Republic (Here Team). Seminar will take place on the basis of Academy of Management under the President of the KR 10 - November 11, 2011.

Based on the foregoing, we are inviting the interested universities to participate in this seminar at the level of vice-rectors of academic affairs and active members of the International Departments of universities. Contact Seminar between Higher Education Institutions of Sweden and Central Asia.

On October 11, 2011 contact seminar between higher education institutions of Sweden, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the basis of Kyrgyz National University named after J.Balasagyn was held. The seminar was opened by welcome speech of Mr. Edil Moldoeva, Adviser of the Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyz Republic, the rector of KNU Isamidinov I.Ch, Mr. Ulf Melin, Director General, Swedish International Programme Office for Education and Training. In the seminar participants presented their country and higher education system in these countries. Examples of successful cooperation within the Tempus, Erasmus Mundus and the Swedish Cooperation Programme Lien Palma were also discussed...

11 higher institutions of Kyrgyzstan will sign Magna Charta of Universities in Bologna

On 16 September 2011 11 Kyrgyz HEIs will sign Magna Charta of Universities Bologna (Italy).

As informed deputy of Jogorku Kenesh Natalia Nikitenko, HEIs of Kyrgyzstan will join to 721 universities from 79 countries, which have signed Magna Charta of Universities in order to enlarge mutual exchange of information and documentation, regularly realization of joint projects, increasing mobility of students and academic staff.

Until this time, only two Kyrgyz universities were signatories of Magna Charta of Universities - Bishkek Academy of Finance and Economics and International University of Kyrgyzstan...

Dear colleagues, we are pleased to announce the results of the Erasmus Mundus programme in 2011!
This year, within Action 2 was received 8 project proposals, 5 of them will be funded, the results can be found here http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus_mundus/funding/2011/selection/documents/

Within new projects are planned to organize and to support 492 mobility, 146 of them for citizens of Kazakhstan, for Uzbekistan – 146, for Kyrgyzstan – 102, for Tajikistan – 87 and for Turkmenistan – 11 mobility.

In the structure of categories of mobility is planned the following: 143 scholarships for undergraduate and 116 postgraduate scholarships, 92 scholarships for doctoral students, 40 scholarships for PhD and 101 for the teaching staff.

The participation of Kyrgyz HEIs in the Erasmus Mundus is growing and we are glad to see the Kyrgyz HEIs in different consortiums:

National Tempus Office in Kyrgyzstan is pleased to announce results for the Fourth call for proposals:four projects with the participation of Kyrgyz universities were recommended for funding, all four projects are regional involving the Central Asian universities and higher education institutions from Azerbaijan. Two of the projects submitted by Spanish universities as grantholder and two other projects are submitted by Italian universities as grantholder. It is encouraging that there are new partners of Tempus in Kyrgyzstan - this is the Academy of Management under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Kyrgyz State University named after Arabaev. We are also pleased to welcome again Naryn State University, Osh State University, Kyrgyz National Agrarian University, Bishkek Academy of Finance and Economics and the Kyrgyz State National University named after J.Balasagyn who did not receive the grant Tempus for a long time...

Tempus Information Day for the southern regions

The Information Day was held on 7-8 - June 2011 on the basis of Osh Technological University named after M.Adysheva in Osh. The aim of this event was to inform universities about aims and objectives and motivation of southern universities in writing projects in the framework of the programmes of the European Union – Tempus and Erasmus Mundus. The second day was devoted to the introduction of the principles of the Bologna process, to aspects such as multi-level system and credit technology ECTS, Diploma Supplement, issues of quality in higher education.

Tempus@20: Ministerial Conference to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Tempus Programme


On 29-30 March 2011 in Belgrad was held the conference initiated to the 20th anniversary of the Tempus programme. This event is organised within the framework of the European Union Tempus Programme, which is funded by the EuropeAid Development and Co-operation Directorate-General and the Directorate-General for Enlargement of the European Commission. It is organised under the auspices of Mr. ?tefan F?le, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, and Dr. ?arko Obradovi?, Minister of Education, Republic of Serbia.

The aim of this conference is to look back over the past 20 year of the Tempus programme and highlight its success.
